Grip-Lift-Release Grabber Claw
This Lego grabber can grip, lift, then release an object. It's an adaptation of Yoshihito Isogawa's grabber in his Lego Mindstorms EV3 Idea Book. A Lego Mindstorms EV3 Medium Motor can close the grabber jaws, rotate the grabbed object upwards, then release the object on top of the motor. You can build a container or basket to catch the object on a robot. As shown here, the 13-studs-long (13L) orange Technic Liftarms limit the downward movement of the jaw assembly, so that it does not fall below the horizontal plane. Click on the image above to see the Flickr image showing the grabber's range of motion. If you want the jaws to drop more downwards, move the 13L Liftarms back to the right (relative to the other pieces). Go to Flickr ( https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/25836297421/in/datetaken-public/ ) to see the grabber's full range of motion. The Parts List is for the grabber only, and not the EV3 Medium Motor shown.
