Quiditch Pitch

My MOC of a Quiditch Pitch for the Hogwarts Castle (71043) that was released in September 2018. The micro scale was really great to work with for the Quiditch Pitch since it allowed for color blocking in the stands and simple forms throughout. The base is reminiscent of the bases around the castle with the SNOT building techniques for the rocks.

UPDATE: 6.15.19
I have reworked the base details and the hinge components to create a model that I am very happy with and is almost 1/2 the cost! I'm in the process of updating the parts list so it is reflected in the cost. The instructions are already created and updated!

UPDATE: 6.17.19
All of the parts have been updated to reflect the instructions and the new cost.

This is a really cool model!! I'm a total newbie when it comes to these types of things, if I buy the plans from you, will I get a file that I can open in Studio and alter a bit? I'd just like to try and make the stands actually usable for nanofigs to sit/stand on :)

Looks like it is a PDF doc from the description of the file.

So sorry about that! I have been really busy this past few weeks. Thank you for the appreciation for the model! If you decide to buy the plans what you will get is a LEGO like PDF instruction booklet and the full parts list for the pieces you will need to buy from Bricklink or another supplier. I can't supply the actual file for alternations, but you could probably just design a 2x2 stand topper if you figure out a way for the nano figs to fit inside!

Excellent set, brought the instructions and parts as a Christmas gift for my little bro, who got the Castle last year. I've just finished putting it together as a test build (and heck, why shouldn't I have a play first). Noticed one slight slip: Step 87 in book 2 says you need 6x Olive Green 1x2 plates, but then the build image only shows you needing 5, at the end there was one left over, so I'm guessing this slip-up might have fed into the overall parts list as well. Otherwise, A+ job, love it!

Hello! Thank you for pointing out the doubled piece! So glad it’s an extra piece instead of a missing piece though! Phew. I’ll adjust the instructions and inventory when I’m back from holiday!
Also I’m so honored that you bought this set as a gift! I’m so glad you enjoy it and hope your brother does too!

I brought this set to build, ordered all the parts and as I sit here trying to build it, I have noticed that I have no red hinges. I thought this must of been a mistake with the supplier of bricks but no its a mistake on your parts list. There are none on here

Wow, I'm really sorry about that! I am going through it all right now and double checking for the other pieces. I have updated the parts list to include the red hinges.

Excellent work! While the rocks at the base require some tweaking to look better, and the goal posts feel a bit too thick at the top (maybe try using a lightsaber hilt for a slimmer post?), the overall product looks great!

I've been working on the goal posts for a while and the idea of the lightsaber hilt is great one I will explore, thank you for that! I love the rocks however, so I leave that open to your own creativity if you decide to build the set!

Amazing MOC! Fits perfectly with the castle set. Maybe to decrease the cost, you could replace the brown parts with reddish brown parts. You might have to swap out the hinge plates for another colour (as the reddish brown parts are even more expensive than the brown ones). Part 3029 and 3030 could change from light gray to light bluish gray to decrease the cost as well, and the 8 x 11 plate (728) would be a lot cheaper if it were made of multiple other smaller plates (as the part was only used in 1962).

Ive been looking at the brown vs reddish brown vs tan pieces for so long... without doing the wooden ring as a mess of different tones I am not sure which direction to go in. I keep playing with it and I'm sure I will find a good solution soon! The Base plates are the other parts that I am swapping out... just building it on Stud.io is one thing but then seeing the actual costs, they need to be changed! Thank you for the input!

Remarakable, and the scale is amazing!
In many MOCs the goal posts are too big for the stadium size, but this looks excellent - and they are even hollow!

Thank you! The goal posts are always going to be a struggle for me... I played with so many different ways but turns out he easiest, in this case, was the best alternative!
