If you want to upload your MOC's Building Instructions to Rebrickable, there are two methods:
- Uploading directly from your computer - there is a 100MB max file size limit for this (enforced by my hosting provider)
- Upload via an external URL - eg Dropbox. There is a 1GB max file size limit for this.
It is highly recommended to keep your files less than 100MB to allow people to download them successfully. Many countries do not have decent enough Internet infrastructure capable of downloading very large files (mine included!).
Uploading via Dropbox, Google Drive, etc has some problems though. You need to use the actual direct download link and not a link that goes to a logon page or virus scan, etc. If you tried to upload a file and it resulted in a small filename with random characters, that's what happened. You can test your link via a private/incognito browser to ensure you are not logged in, and see if it immediately downloads the file or displays something else first.
Instructions for popular file sharing sites:
- Google Drive: https://sites.google.com/site/gdocs2direct/ - but depending on the file, Google will still display a virus scanner check first and so the upload will fail.
- Dropbox: https://help.dropbox.com/files-folders/share/view-only-access
You can also use a free tool like 7-Zip or WinRAR to split your large file into multiple smaller 100MB files:
